Athena Coin Pendant
Paeonia is a kingdom in north central mainland Greece. They became client kings of Macedon under Phillip II and his son Alexander III (the Great). They were best known horse breeding and a particular method of fighting from horseback. The Paeonians supplied light-armed lancer companies to both Philip and Alexander.
Paeonia, King Audoleon. 315/10-286 BC. Silver drachm. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena facing three-quarters left. Reverse: Horse walking. This coin pendant is reversible on the 12/6 axis.
