Taras Coin Pendant

Legend has it that the city of Taras (Tarentum), a port in southern Italy, was founded when a son of Poseidon, Taras , washed up on its shores. Taras was aboard a ship when a storm brewed up by his evil step-mother cast him out to sea. Poseidon then sent one of his dolphins to rescue the boy. Taras is often seen holding his father’s trident.
